Counting Up The Cost

With Ruth and Zachary starting university in about five weeks there are many things that I have been keeping busy in preparation on the big date. I have spent quite a bit of time this week looking up used text books on line and comparing prices. Ruth and Zachary and we their parents do not have all the funds in place to make this university experience happen. After looking at the cost of Ruth's books it is enough to start the heart beating a little faster. If she would buy all the needed textbooks for just this first semester it would cost her (without tax) $964.30. If she would buy them used from the school book store it would cost $723.25. However, there is never enough used text books to go around so some of the books would have to be new. There has to be some way to make this university experience a little bit cheaper for her. Although my quest to find all her textbooks at a rock bottom price was not totally successful, I was able to find a few deals. Her most expensive text book is her Anatomy book for $200 new or $150 used. I was able to find it at Amazon for around $75. We are just hoping that when the textbooks come they will be in good condition. I have to order some of Zachary's but his book list is not in yet. This university experience is really adding up, but I was happy to be able to knock off a couple hundred dollars from the price on books. YEAH!!!!
